Just Meat.

This 4-piece collage collection, titled "Just Meat," is a mixed media representation of women and gender performance. This was my take on a multi-paper political assignment from my Drawing and Collage class where the subject possibilities were endless.

Months before the project was assigned, I found a butcher's guidebook with a plethora of meat images—this was my initial inspiration. I knew I eventually could use it to express sexualized culture, viewing women as pieces of meat. With this, I knew I had to include "sex icon," and so-called original "bombshell," Marilyn Monroe. I've organized the works in a specific order, not only for aesthetic purposes but to tell a story—showcasing a handful of ways many women perform their gender, through societal norms.

The pieces are titled: Smile (top left), All Eyes (top right), Meatilyn Monroe (bottom left), and Meat Mania (bottom right).
